Whirlpool Condenser Dryer won't Dry/Heat Help!

Hi guys, probably a long shot but thought i'd ask anyway!

My Whirlpool AWZ 541 dryer has stopped drying, it works fine but it won't dry/heat up.

Any experts on here who can tell me what's wrong? i heard it may be a thermostat problem but i don't know really :o

I've had the back off to have a look, this looks not right to me.

Any ideas at all?

  • the connector is burnt ..so it has been a bad connection ..and its been arcing ..

youre going to have to put a new insulted spade on the thing.

has it tripped your power out

Nope, still works fine etc just won't produce heat/dry clothes.

I googled the problem and some people seem to think it can only be two things causing the no heat problem - thermostat or element.

the terminal leads to the heating element ...the rest of the machine will work ok

get an electrician to fix the terminal

    power
i meant tripped the consumer unit mcb or rcd

Will i need a new one then? or could i just replace the spade with a new insulted one like you mentioned?

It hasn't tripped anything as far as i'm aware.

yes just a new spade with any luck ..

and a good one ..not one bought from an autoparts shop.

i would advice you get an electrician to fit it

Difficult to fit myself is it?

    Appreciate the help :)
  • You can clean up to bright metal and solder / heat shrink it. Fit a new terminal and boot, 30p's worth. You don't need any other parts and it will not have tripped any circuit breaker. A ratchet compressor tool is about £25 and the two parts are 10p each. Just cut the cable back about an inch to clean, bright wire.
  • well whirlpool never got it right ..that fault has been with the machine since it was made ..

poor crimping or soldering job ..now its failed .

carries a lot of power 2.5 kw upwards .

    needs to be done well

I'll look at this route once i've explored the other as it looks easier or should i say cheaper to me!
