I bought a specialised fleece jacket on sale (half price). The thumb loops had minor splits after three weeks. I took it back. They sent it to the manufacturer. I expressed at the time that I liked the jacket a lot but that I didn't think the thumb loops should be spliting, we agreed to send it away for a decision. The form I have says the item should have been returned to the shop once the manufacturer had made the decision.
I received a phone call stating it could not be repaired and there was no direct replacement because it was end of stock. I was offered a similar replacement or a refund. I decided that I wanted my jacket back because it was best suited to what I wanted and I would fix it myself.
They said the jacket had been destroyed and was no longer available and will only replace with a similar product or refund the sale price. I can find the identical jacket in other shops at full RRP - am I entitled to a refund of the full price so that I can replace like for like?
Cheers

Of course not.
They have offered a similar prduct or refund. You would end up (if you get a refund) in exactly the same position you were in before you purchased the first one.
