Maybe it will work if you simply uninstall the old version and reinstall the new, entering your activation key if necessary?0

If you go onto the Kaspersky forums you will see that there has been a new patch out today and due to the number of downloads their servers have been slow and overloaded, many are complaining that updates are taking ages or stopping in mid update.
Just one of many threads from their forums http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=1850230 -

It appears to have affected the download servers for all versions, I am using KIS 2009 on the desktop and KIS 2011 on my laptop, it took several attempts before I managed to get updates for both and the new patch for 2011 to download this afternoon.
Edit :- KIS 2009 just trying to update now, taken 16 minutes and only got to 24% then stopped.0 -
i noticed that mine was stopping at 38% and then going back to zero. when it got to over 1 hour i stopped it and rolled back to previous update. i then tried to update again and it was stopping at 34%. i logged off and i have just logged back on and i am trying to update again. it is now stopping at 33% and going back to zero.0

That is what mine was doing, eventually after several attempts it suddenly completed the download, there is no need to roll back when you start it again it carries on from where it was stopped.
As stated it is not your computer it is definitely a Kaspersky problem, hopefully be sorted out soon.:)0 -
miraculously mine just got to 100% after 46 minutes. however it says not all components were updated. what do i need to do when that happens?0

Update again, or wait for the next update when it should correct any anomalies.
Or go to bed have sweet dreams and try again tomorrow.:D0 -
