Badly Fitted Carpet?

Hi all, hope I'v posted in the right section.
Twelve months ago I had new carpets in the dining room, living room, hall stairs and landing. I opted for a hard wearing one due to us having two teenage children. A day after the fitting we went away for a week and when we got back I realised that when you closed the kitchen door the fitters had put the door gripper in the wrong place and two inches of the hallway carpet was in the kitchen! They agreed it was their fault and replaced it free of charge. A year on the carpet is now coming away from the door grippers and fraying on two of the carpets and starting on a third, it is also not wearing well. I have asked them to come out and have a look and they say that I need wider door grippers.
I dont really know what to think about this. I'm no expert but surely if the carpet had been correctly fitted at the door grippers in the first place it shouldnt have started fraying and thining. I just wondered really what my rights are as basically I havnt got what I paid for.
Hope someone can help as they are coming out tomorrow. Many thanks
