  • You can get some advance singles for £28.50 out and £20.50 back on the 25th Oct and it's the same on the 1st Nov, so total return £49 but timing ain't great. However, for a cheaper fare you could try this; you will need a Compatible mobile phone;

    Barrow in F to Manchester Pic advance single £9 lots available
    Manchester Pic to London Euston Mobitix fare £11

    London Euston to Manchester Pic Mobitx fare £11
    Manchester Pic to Barrow in F advance single £9 lots available
    Total Return £40

    Right, the only problem at the moment is Mobitix has only releases its tickets up to 20th Oct :o but it you do try this idea give yourself plenty of time to catch your London train from Manchester.

  • Another option, takes a bit longer but saves you more is take the Megabus (Coach)

    Barrow in F to Preston (Train) advance single £5.50
    Preston Bus station to London Victoria Coach station £5.50
    So x2 for a return £22

    Just give yourself time to get from Preston train station to bus station to catch your London bus

    I don't think going via Manchester's a good idea as it takes about 2 hours longer. The most direct route avoids Manchester completely. Try advance single to Preston or Lancaster, then another advance single from there to London. And then the same in reverse. Otherwise the train to preston then coach option seems pretty good.

    Just had a look at National Express' Promo and you can get fares for a £1 Preston to London and £1 London to Preston, might help, but don't know the times the coaches leave London/Preston, I'll leave that one for you to look up.

    Thanx to thatguy1 who posted details on the National Express Promo

    Should be able to make it fit in, trains to Preston from Barrow are usually every hour or two at least.
  • Thanks again you've all been so helpful and the cash we've saved means we can do more with her while she's here :j
