Problems with College Bus Service.

Hi-Hope im in the right section.
My 16 year old son has just started college and the bus company provide a service twice a day to the college which is a 20min drive away.
They charge £80 a term for the college pass that can only be used once a day on the outward and return journey.
On friday he was refused entry to the bus as it was full-driver said he had to pick up at the next college after and had to reserve some seating for those students,so my son and some others were left at the stop to make other arrangements to get home.
Ive spoken to a snotty woman at the school/college transport office who said in a round about way yes its 1st come 1st served in the queue for the bus and if they arent lucky enough to get it then they have to walk 35 mins into town to get the village bus there.Even though they are still happy to take the termly bus fee.
Even though hes 16 i still want to know hes going to get home ok and think their policy stinks.
Does anyone have any idea who i can contact to take this further?i contacted the local council who put me through to the snotty woman i spoke to before.

Nobody really other than the bus company. He's old enough that there's no duty of care involved and the bus company aren't contracted by the college or the council. It is illegal for the driver to overload the bus and it would be the driver who got the fine. Local newspaper is about it, really.
  • Ask for a refund, chargeback, etc. Then don't bother with it. I wouldn't put up with shoddy service like that.

If they are going to sell unlimited passes but only accept a limited number of passengers, then it should just be pay per journey like a normal bus.

My girlfriend had similar problems a while ago, although I think that was a free school bus.
Have you bought the bus pass off the council or the bus company? Surely its a simple case of you've paid for a service, which they're incapable of providing adequately so you should be compensated.

Write to them asking for their policy in regards to the bus service and also their terms and conditions for purchasing that particular ticket? Then go through with fine tooth comb.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.
