Mozilla Firefox

Is anyone else having problems with Mozilla Firefox? For the last couple of days I have had to keep shutting firefox down as it just seems to stop loading and even when I close all windows and try to start again it says that it is open and to shut all windows or restart computer again.

I also got a message saying

"illegal operation in plugin

Shockwave Flash

The plug-in performed an illegal operation. You are strongly advised
to restart firefox"

I'm not sure what this means. I am going to close everything down and restart but I did this yesterday and it did not work.

I am again using IE which I do not really like as I have to remember all my passwords for every site.

Any help appreciated.

You could try reinstalling Shockwave Flash.

I find Firefox is a bit usntable with opening PDFs in the browser. Found an extension that will open PDF documents in Adobe Reader straight away.

I went to mozilla and downloaded shockwave again but am still having problems with it performing illegal operations in plug-in. This is happening everytime I use mozilla, which is every day! I am currently in IE.

Should I have removed original shockwave programme before downloading it again?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I am still having the same problems with shockwave flash and the same message as before. I have uninstalled and reinstalled shockwave as per link given by gaming-guy, and have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, but it is still happening.

Also, after shockwave flash message when all firefox windows close, I cannot open firefox again until I restart computer, although all firefox windows are closed and nothing shows as open I am getting this message:

"Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window you must first close the existing firefox process, or restart your system."

My kids both hate firefox and use IE and they do not seem to have any problems, it is only me on firefox.

    Has anyone any other suggestions.

The problem is often resolved [8] by uninstalling Flash 8 or 9 and installing Flash 7 (on Windows, use the Netscape installer for Firefox and Mozilla Suite - see above).

The above is from this site which is worth a read.

I had a similar sort of problem using Myspace on FF. For a while, it asked me to download Shockwave, but when I tried to do so, it wouldn't let me. It would go to the download page, but it wouldn't actually download.
Eventually I had to close FF, then update manually, and reopern FF. Seemed to work then.
I still haven't been able to figure out why this happened, all I know is that it did.

As well as problems with firefox as mentioned above, we are now having problems with IE. We were having intermittent problems with IE but now having problems everytime we go online with both IE and firefox, keep having to log off or restart computer. Taskbar keeps freezing and everything just seems to freeze, also sometimes taskbar doesn't even appear.

Tried downloading IE7 beta to see if that was any better but it doesn't seem to be.

Have run spybot and adware se personal to see if any viruses, a few things found and deleted but if anything problems seem to be getting worse.

I am not very computer literate and son not very patient, any help or advice appreciated.

    Thanks
  • After you uninstall the programs do you restart before you reinstall them as you need to do this for the files to 'reset' themselves. Otherwise I dont think all the system files are updated correctly. Hope this helps.
