I am registered blind and my daughter is just taking her driving lessons she is thinking that it would help her getting to and from work quicker so she can be home to help me.
Can I claim for a car? or road tax, or cheaper insurance.
We do take a lot of taxis when going out only because it is a lot easier that public transport.
I am on the lower rate mobility allowance and middle rate DLA.

Not in the circumstances that you have stated. The vehicle is for your use (the fact that someone else drives it is immaterial). She would not permitted to use the vehicle for herself at all. Using it to commute to and from work would be regarded as a serious breach of the terms of the agreement."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

 Nonsense!
This has come up on the board a long while back and a few people had actualy asked them about it. If your daughter using the car for work means she can spend an hour or two extra a day with you then that is of benefit to you. If this was true then every family with a dissabled child would need two cars, the movability car and an extra car for journeys that they do without the child but nobody does this and it isn't an issue in the slightest.
If somebody got a car got for their gran and used for work all were and just took her shopping once on a Sunday in it or something then that would be a serious breach. Your situation would not be at all.
Your problem however is that you need higher rate mobility to be eligible for a car which is currently not given for blindness but this is changing. You will be written to this autumn sometime by the DWP about looking at your eligibility for higher rate to see if you would qualify under their new rules for people with the most significant forms of blindness."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

No car, no road tax and no cheap insurance as you only get low rate mobility.I am registered blind and my daughter is just taking her driving lessons she is thinking that it would help her getting to and from work quicker so she can be home to help me.

That is very much the situation described by the OP.jetta_wales wrote: »If somebody got a car got for their gran and used for work all were and just took her shopping once on a Sunday in it or something then that would be a serious breach. Your situation would not be at all.
The daughter works. The daughter uses the car for commuting to and from work. Thus, the daughter is the primary user.
The timing of the idea is also interesting."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

If I am entitled to higher rate mobility after the rule change my partner will use it for work every day. He's 20 so driving costs us a fortune as insurance was £1.8k last year £1.3k this year but if he used public transport it would be 3 biases and he'd be with me for at least 2 hours less each day or even longer depending on where he has to work so not having a car isn't an option for us and it is of great benefit to me even without all the journeys we of course do together too. Motability have been asked this question before and this was the jist of their reply also."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0
