Digital/WiFi Radio recommendations

Hope this is the right place to ask this....
I'm looking to buy my husband a digital radio for Christmas and wondered if anyone had any suggestions to which is a good make and model?
Our Christmas budget for each other is £100 so I could spend that much on one but clearly if a decent one is available for less then this would be the preferred option so he can have something else to open on Chirstmas Day
PS Sorry to sound a bit thick but am I am right in thinking that a digital radio will work worldwide? ie we can listen to UK radio when elsewhere?
Thanks in advance for any asstance on this

It will always be impossible to please everybody all of the time but so long as someone is happy with me somewhere at some point, my job here is done!

Personally i like the Roberts ones that look a little more traditional. Battery or mains so that it can be used outside on battery and inside on mains (batteries go flat quicker in digital radios compared to 'normal' ones)YNWA

Never used one. But sounds like it would be good for outside use. I would assume they would be lighter too as they wouldnt have the 4c/d batteries in them? Unless the solar panel just charges internal rechargable batteries. I assume they can be ran off the mains too? Inside stored in a dark corner would not charge it too well.
Bit of a ramble but hope it makes sense :-)YNWA

I have several Pure digital radios, they all work well, styling tends to be retro.
You cannot get UK radio abroad with a DAB set.

Firstly, I have to make an admission. Having heartily knocked the a*se out of digital radio in previous posts I have to admit that I have actually now rejoined the digital club. Our first experience was unfavourable and so fed up did we get with the constant need to retune as we took the radio from room to room; the complete lack of signal on one side of the house even though we lived within a few miles of the transmitter with clear and completely unobstructed line of sight; and the frequent and annoying drop out of signal that we returned it and got our money back.
Two weeks ago whilst working away from home I knocked my small, trusty old "steam" radio off a cupboard and it finally died. There I was in the middle of 10 days working away from home without my radio! I went to a nearby Asda and finding that they had no really portable "steam" radios for sale without clocks (something I abhor) and not wanting to spend a huge amount of money I bought one of these. Although it goes against the grain somewhat I have actually found it to perform far better that its Pure predecessor in that I can actually use it at my desk and am listening to it as we speak (or rather type).
Excellent value for £15 and you would still have a large wedge left for something more personal, perhaps. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
I think DAB is rubbish, worse than the FM it seeks to replace.
There are maybe 40 stations on DAB, all in poor quality MP2, but they're all available on the internet while there are perhaps 20,000 stations on the internet that aren't available on DAB.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Not only can you not get UK DAB radio abroad, you won't get local DAB stations either, as the good old UK uses a different DAB standard. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I think it's great. Ours is permanantly tuned to Planet Rock.Marching On Together
I've upped my standards...so up yours!0 -
As always on these DAB threads, it's worth pointing out that in the UK we have what is effectively an obsolete version of DAB, and that it's generally accepted that it will upgraded to DAB+ at some point in the future. DAB and DAB+ are not compatible, so any radio that is not upgradeable will cease to work when that happens.

DAB+ is technically much better, and all other things being equal should give a better quality of sound than DAB.0 -
you could consider a wifi radio you can listen to any station any where in the world where you have a wifi connection.
