Winter baskets

Hi there

Can I plant winter baskets for outside my house??
If so what would I plant???

At the moment I have fuchsia and surfinia in the baskets......how long will they last??? Am I better off buying another pair of baskets??

Winter baskets can be lovely and the added bonus is that you might not need to water them - only if we get a dry spell in autumn.

You can put winter pansies, primulas, heathers, ivy, small conifers, grasses and also plant Spring bulbs to come up in spring (of course!) to add more interest. The pansies may look like they've died off in frosts and snow but they come back.

ETA: You probalby won't get much more life from your surfinias, some fushcias can go on flowering until Nov even Dec if mild, so you can replant those if you need their basket/pot for the winter displays.
