Top Spot Marketing took money without authorisation

I was contacted by a company called Top Spot Marketing, offering me 'top of the page' Google advertising for 5 'key phrases' which would direct customers to my web site. This was 'guaranteed within 48 hours'.
I paid £130 by credit card.
After the 48 hours I checked Google and found one of my 'key phrases' on page 7 and none of the other 4 could be seen. I sent an email, letter and fax cancelling the contract and was contacted by Top Spot who tried to talk me out of it but I verbally confirmed the cancellation.
The following month Top Spot took a further £130 from my credit card. I sent a letter threatening legal action unless I received a refund and sent copies by fax and email.
I have since sent another letter but get no response. When I phone them and ask to speak to someone about it they say they will ring back but never do.
Where do I stand legally and what can I do?

Before signing up you should have checked that they dont take recurring payments. By the sounds you took out:
What are the Costs......?
Fixed cost solutions start from as little as £139 per month with a guarantee to place your website link on page one of Google every day under five key search phrases.0 -
But I cancelled the agreement after 48 hours0

I thought these kind of SEO firms had gone down the pan well before now.
No reputable SEO agency would "guarantee" top spots and no reputable agency would do it for as little as £130 a month.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

And nobody contacting you out of the blue is going to deliver what they promise.
I am more surprised you achieved ANY kind of ranking than being ripped off.0
