hi ive just been informed by my partner, who is currently in london, that he has been clamped, he has had to pay £278 to get it taken off!!!
he had to wait 3hrs for the guy to come up and take it off too.
would we be able to appeal over the cost of release.
he parked in a car park next to a block of flats but got there late and couldnt see the signs because it was dark. apparently around 20 others who stayed at the same hotel as him have also been clamped. very good day for the car clamping company!!!

Who are you going to appeal to, other than the clamping company?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
i just read that the appeals are ment to go to some independent company, sure i read it on cab office advice document0

They don't go to an independent company, it's always done "in-house" which means it always is rejected. That's how these companies work.i just read that the appeals are ment to go to some independent company, sure i read it on cab office advice documentWhat part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Please tell me she paid on card?
If she did call up card company and state they she had wanst a chargeback on her card as she had to pay under duress.
Do not take no for an answer, most call centre staff have never heard of this before.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&&sa=X&ei=cU6PTLCMJMK4jAeN1-CSDQ&ved=0CBoQBSgA&q=debit+card+chargeback&spell=1I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

hi i just got the sia number off the reciept from my partner and searched it on the sia website but they cant find anything, does this mean number is bogus therfore illegal clamping?0

Could be. You need advice from those who have dealt with clamping cases before:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
That's pepipoo.com forums. Read a few clamping threads, search through the list and read such cases (non-Council clamping), from start to finish - even cases not yet resolved.
You'll see that you will need to post your own thread (first read the FAQs and stickies like 'how to post pictures' and 'READ THIS FIRST') and include a pic of the receipt in your first post on your thread. Blank out your signature and car details only.
The only way to get the money back will be to take to Small Claims Court, the clampers AND the landowner/agent (whoever instructed them on that site, check with Land Registry if unknown). You MUST sue both or you'll never get your money back. Put a lot of pressure on the other party (landowner or managing agent) making it crystal clear in letters and on the phone that they're facing Court if they don't sort a full refund, sharpish.
Don't appeal to the clamper = pointless.
Only a Letter Before Action will suffice, then Court papers if the landowner doesn't cave under your pressure, then a Small Claims case against both parties.
Pepipoo can help but do your homework first by reading other clamping threads, and trying to work out who may have contracted those clampers. Good luck.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
