Your looking at anywhere between 0.75% and 3% I reckon.
Just make sure you actually an agent that will work hard for you.
However, if your selling a shared ownership property the Housing association should have a list of people waiting for a property like that to come up, some will also insist they try to sell it first and only allow you to get an agent involved when the fail!I am a Mortgage Adviser

HI,
Thank you betmunch, we have it on with the Housing company now, but they are not doing a very good job of marketing the flat at the moment, so we have been kind of forced to place it on the market as there are houses that we have seen and loved!
Thanks0 -
Housing Associations rarely do a good job at selling these properties. Its not what they are set up to do though to be fair.
I would suggest that you get three local agents round to hear their sales patter and what they charge. Then choose the one thats going to give you the best value for money in your opinion. Not necessarily the cheapest one.I am a Mortgage Adviser

The best piece of advice I have seen in a long time from "betmunch" - "choose the one thats going to give you the best value for money in your opinion. Not necessarily the cheapest one." That is definitely one of the most important things to remember but with regards to what is value for money from Agents, that's a whole other thread!
Agents fee's will differ quite considerably, especially in my area. Bairstowe Eves are part of a big corporate network (countrywide) which means that their fees are set by the bigwigs at the top of the company. Independent local agents will often be more flexible with regards to negotiating their fees.
Always remember to ask if they charge extra for advertising in the local press etc as many agents will forget to mention these extras and will not include it in your "appraisal". Also, make sure you are aware of their withdrawel fees.
Never accept the first price either. Make sure you haggle.
Good luck.0 -
Another thing to watchout for is withdrawal fees. One of the big agents round our way convinces you to go on with them promising the world then delivering nothing. When you go to leave they tell you theres a fee to leave!I am a Mortgage Adviser
