hello all,
i recently bought an item for my dad from an internet shop called outlet direct. they never delivered the item, so i asked them for a refund. they sent me a letter confirming that they would refund the money, which they never did. i replied asking them again, but they have not replied. phoning is no use because they never answer the phone.
could anybody give me some advice on what my next step could be please, because i really have no idea what i can do now? i really want the money that i paid them back. thanks.

Send them a letter by recorded delivery demanding the refund within 7 days or you will take legal action. If you don't get your money back, take action by filing a claim at https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
Depending on the amounts of money we're talking about, it may or may not be worth the cost, time and effort. Also depending on the value and the way you paid you might have other options - for example, if it was over £100 and you paid on credit card, you'll be able to claim from your credit card company - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases
If it's less, or you paid with a debit card then you may be able to use the internal claim procedures of your card company.0 -

It is called Chargeback, and requires use of a VISA debit card.
Some info here.
More here from VISA;-
"What can I do if I don’t receive goods or services I have purchased using a Visa debit card?
Visa’s consumer protection offers consumers the opportunity to reclaim money spent on a Visa card if they are an innocent victim of fraud, they do not receive goods or services as expected, if goods are lost or the wrong goods are received. Simply put, there is no safer way to pay than with a Visa card. There is no upper limit on the value of the goods or services to be refunded and in most cases customers are covered for purchases abroad on their Visa cards as well as in the UK. The protection is subject to the terms and conditions of the payment services provider issuing the Visa card."
