Ways to keep foxes away?

Does anyone know of ways to deter foxes from coming into the garden?

In books about keeping hens, the advice to keep foxes away seems to be :
    1. Male urine sprinkled round the area!
    2. Tights/stockings filled with human hair. They suggest that you ask your hairdresser to give you some.

Whilst both sound wierd, it is the faily standard advice
  • I'm presently trying very aromatic oil of clove bud which I drip onto cottonwool earbuds and place strategically. Hoping that the pungency of the oil will confuse scent marking areas. It'a lovely smell - a bit like bread sauce mingled with Dianthus.

Can vouch for male wee :D

Used to keep chickens and when all the neighbours chickens got massacred one night, mine were fine, and even some local pheasants had taken refuge in our pen!!! hahaha!

Get your fella (or any random fella ;)) to pee in an old jug or empty milk carton and sprinkle around the boundaries or get him to go direct to the garden in the dark hahaha :rotfl:

Also, if you know a male dog locally, ask the owners to bring him round for half hour of spreading his scent around the place ;)
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
