Damage by repair man

Hi there,
I hope someone can help. I have contacted Trading Standards and Consumer Direct but neither helped me.
Basically our dishwasher, which came with our new apartment, broke down within the 12 month warranty. A company called Domex came to fix it but in doing so scratched my wooden floor because they had to pull out the plinth.
The repairman had to go away and order parts. I immediatly noticed the scratches and called the company to report it - and took pictures. They said they would sort it when the repair man came back.
But when he did he refused to complete the repair and refused to pull out the plinth again - he was frightened of making more scratches. After he left we called the company who is refusing to fix the floor - or pay for it to be fixed - and is refusing to fix the dishwasher until we pull out the plinth ourslelves. This has been two months now and they wont budge. We still dont have a working dishwasher and our warranty runs out next month.
I dont want to pay for the dishwasher to be fixed and nor do I want to pay for the floor to be fixed.
Can anyone give me advice as to what to do?
Many thanks,
Katy

I think you may have answered your own question. From the indciation you have given, the item is built in and not easily accessible.
As for the floor being wooden may be the problem as it could be easily scratched, But in the same sense, it could be easily repaired. Sorry but a bit of old brute force, sand paper and varnish helps here.0 -
Well get the dishwasher out so the repair man can get at it to repair it whilst it's till under warranty.
Then you can pursue the company for damage to the floor. But unless you can prove ngligence then you might struggle.
Hardly surprising they don't want to move it again and perhaps you should have taken precautions to protect the floor. I sure you will when you do it yourself.0 -
Unfortunately, it sounds like it was inevitable that the floor would likely be scratched due to the nature and position of the existing installation. Given that if this is the case I don't think the repairer's can in any way be liable.0

What do you want to get out of this?
I might be wrong but it sounds like the units has been installed in a way that is impossible to fix without scratching the floor. That's not the repair companies fault , if you insist on chasing them for damage to the floor they won't fix the unit.
As far as I can see you can either allow them to fix it then repair the floor your self, don't allow them to fix it & keep the floor as is, or move the unit yourself so they can fix it without them causing anymore damage.0
