Just one last point. Be careful to stipulate that you are talking in Egyptian Pounds when bartering.
In Luxor I came across a couple who had bought a carpet. They thought that they were talking Egyptian Pounds when they said Pounds but the seller insisted that he has understood that they were talking in Sterling pounds (about 5 times more at the time) so they paid five times more than they thought for the carpet.
Always specify 'Egyptian Pounds'I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

NO! You will get a MUCH better exchange rate by taking ££££ to Egypt. They are trying to build their ecomomy and one way of doing this is by gathering foreign currency.
Tipping is almost compulsory for housekeeping and they will love you to death for £1 coin a day!
Take a small amout of LE with you and the rest in £££ cash....no travellers cheques or $$$.
Nearly all prices in Sharm are quoted in LE (Egyptian pounds) or Euros or £ Sterling
Do not change £££ into $$$ or Euros and then into LE. Youl will lose out in the exchange rates.
