I want to get some ideas from you as to what I could do to raise money for cancer research.
As some of you may know, my mum passed away 2 weeks ago and I've been thinking of ways to raise money for cancer research in her memory.
An idea I had was to hold an "An Evening with....." and invite a guest speaker along.
Can any of you give me more ideas please
many thanks

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
20p savers club = £8.00
£2.00 savers club = £0.00 (£100 banked)

'An evening with' is a nice idea, but of course there's the fact that you'll have to sell enough tickets and raise other incomes to cover the costs and give a good return.
You can mix it in with an auction or something too, sell raffle tickets on the night and so on. Also worth asking a fundraiser for the charity, as they'll be able to give you advice and tips and help out with things like tax efficiency and legalities.for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.0 -
Have a chat with one of the cancer charities, they have loads of great ideas.Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught - Sir Winston Churchill0

If you're feeling brave, you could do a sponsored skydive/bungee jump. I'm sure Cancer Research UK will help you organise it.0

Had another look at my reply, and it might have discouraged you. DOn't let it. The best events are usually ones where people have an idea they want to do. If you think you can do it, then go for it, if you have a contact as a host for the event, perfect! Do ask the charity for advice though, they're usually happy to give it. The key is planning, sit down and do a budget, and if the figures work out then you can see how it'll work. I think some people assume that because 'it's for charity' it'll be a big success, the problem is that there are lots of 'things for charity', so you do need to plan it.
Good luck though, I think this has potential.for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

If you have spare time you could help the charity directly by sorting out the stock or operating tills in one of their shops?"Well, we are a Christian country, it is an important part of our make-up and I don't see any reason to change." David Cameron0

I know I butt in a lot, but there's a whole host of things you could do. The key is to mix your skills and interests with those that are needed.for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.

For the last couple of years some friends and I have run a stall at the Richmond (London) May Fair and the Twickenham Moor Meads Fair. Basically just asking friends and contacts to donate anything that someone would buy. This year we raised over £1100 pounds at the Moor Meads one alone, by piling high and selling cheap - clothing (men, women, children), books, CDs, DVDs, videos, ornaments....anything. Ten of us staffed the stall altogether, we had an absolute hoot with each other and the people who came to buy, and a well deserved drink afterwards with everyone clustering round as the notes and coins were counted up in the pub. If that was the best moment, the scariest one was at 07.45 at the ground with six huge fully loaded vehicles bumping towards us with STUFF to be unloaded and arranged. Thank you to http://www.princess-alice-hospice.org.uk/ for looking after our late friend so beautifully and giving us a focus to remember her and help other people too. Hope this gives you some ideas.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
