Apple still haven't charged me for my imac.

I ordered an imac from the apple store 3 weeks ago now. The money was initially earmarked from my available balance but was then added back to my available balance 2 days later.

I presumed that they would then take the money from my account when the item was dispatched. However, the item was dispatched last friday and is due for delivery tomorrow but the money is still in my account.

Have apple made a mistake here or does anyone when know when the money is due to be taken from my account?

It said on the dispatch confirmation email that i would receive an invoice via within 14 days of receiving my imac, is then when the money will be take?

Cheers,

Matt

  • They have six months from the date of purchase to claim the money, after that they have six years from the date of purchase to pursue you for the money through courts etc.

It is your bank that does it.

Nothing to do with the bank.

Apple had an authorisation agreed by the bank which they can then debit from your account or cancel. They have obviously cancelled that authorisation if it is not reflected anymore in your available funds. The bank have no ability to do this once the authorisation has been agreed by them.

It isn't particularly normal for apple to do this but likewise it isn't remarkably rare and you'll probably find they just re process the card details in the next few days. (Once in a VERY rare while you might get away with it if they have really messed up there processing of the payment but like I say that is VERY rare)

Actually, some banks will no longer reflect the transaction in the available balance after a set period. i.e. RBS/NW is 2 days, some other banks are up to a week etc.

OP, keep the money in your account, otherwise when it is presented you're going to trigger charges.
