Should I buy a scooter?

Try a pushbike first. If the route is suitable and only two miles, it may be as quick as a moped. No running costs, very cheap maintenance and you get fit.0

I've got a Vespa 125 and love it to pieces for riding to work. But my work is 13 miles, just about worth doing. For "a couple of miles", you'd spend longer putting your protective gear on and taking it off again than you would riding! Too much effort to be worthwhile.
For that distance, I'd use a traditional cycle - nothing to worry about but a little clip helmet, and you could do it in ten minutes.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
As above, 125cc is a much better solution than a 50cc. Old 50cc bikes will probably be 2-stroke so will need to burn oil and petrol which is a !!!!!! for the environment.
If you are going for older bikes:
Honda C90 is a step through that just goes on for ever, has gears but no clutch.
Honda CG125 is a traditional bike with gears and clutch and will do over 80mpg.
Also, if you haven't done your CBT yet, try to do the test on a gear & clutch bike rather than a scooter, it will leave you with much more options in the future.0
