Can i claim carers allowance

I am employed and will probably be made redundent in a few months time. I am 55 and can get my pension on leaving. My partner is getting DLA middle rate. Will being in reciept of my pension affect my ability to claim carers allowance.

Occupational pensions aren't taken into account for carers allowance, which is weird as state retirement pension is.0

thats good because my mum who is my sisters carer will be clasiming her pension soon, so i'm glad to here she wont lose this.0

You cannot claim carers allowance as well as collecting a stste pension.0

As I understand it, the reason you can claim carers allowance when you are geting an occupational pension but not a state pension is because the state pension comes from the same source as the carers allowance i.e. the government. In their infinite generosity they don't want to pay you 2 lots of money.0
