How long does it takes for Santander to send all the documents for new account?

Quick question.... I know they are notoriously poor in terms of customer service so thought I ask here for a general opinion.

Applied for this and got the internet account number more than a week ago. Since then recieved the debit card and confirmation to start account transfer. But I have yet to recieve the pin for both internet account and ATM card after more than a week.

How long does it generally takes before they send it all out?

Hi, from my experience with Santander they have been pretty slow sending stuff out but do get there in the end. I have 2 accounts and I remember with first account that the card came but no pin after about a week so I rang them to get another sent which came quite quickly.

My 2nd account, the pin came first and card followed a couple of days after.

I know they get some stick but so far so good, except for the above :j
  • In my case, I applied online for new current account 1st September. Had e-mail on 10th September confirming application "successful". It automatically appeared on my Internet accounts (I have e-saver and ISA already with them), but I have not yet received any card or PIN. I am reluctant to send any dosh into the account just yet, because that's exactly what I did with Halifax, and they sent it back because despite telling me the account was open, it was... er... not open. Then, after a week, I sent another £100 to Halifax, which appeared almost instantly on Internet banking. Fine? Not really, because then they stole it. After a very long phone call, I established that when the first payment is by Internet, then it has to go into uncleared payments. The agent could see it there, but could/would not move it. I must go into a branch. After 45 minutes waiting in the branch, the girl made a phone call to the exact same section, and asked them to move it back to my account.

Aren't banks wonderful? I hope Santander don't have such a silly system.
  • I bank with RBS in London. Which are being transfered to Santander. Thinking there might be a problem with this so I applied for their basic savings account. This gives me internet access and a card. It was never the intention to really use it very much.

I applied on the 28th August. I was sucessful got the email on the 1 September.

I then recieved the email. Now I have the atm card and my e-banking registration no.

I dont have a pin for the atm card. I dont have my personal id & passcode.
  • I have now recieved the ebanking login. I have yet to recieve the atm pin no.

I called the cservice no. Whilst its clear they are not in the uk the girl seemed able to help me with what I wanted today. Maybe santander are getting better.

Its not worth it run whilst you can.
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

Funny. In my case, I have the e-banking Registration Number the Phone Banking Number, the PIN, but... er... no card!
  • I thought I learnt my lesson when I applied for the Zero credit card last year. Took ages to receive and a nightmare to get myself online access. Looks like I will have to endure the same grief having applied for the Santander high interest current account...over a week and not a word from them even though they told me I should be expecting to hear from them. Thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt as 1 year had passed but hey...still absolutely awful service at Santander. At least their benefits make up for it...once you get them that is.

Every time I call them, it seems to trigger another Premium Banking welcome pack in the post!

    I've got 4 now :rotfl::T
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • See another thread (Santander *UPGRADED* my Debit Card)

They're all busy taking Electron away from existing customers. No time to deal with new ones!

    Don't go there.

You will only feel cheated and sick.
