Help with Philips LS1300 Freeline needed!

Howdo all

As it says above I need a bit of help with Philips LS1300 Freeline unit that my friend has dumped on me.

The problem is the recovery discs are quite old now and are throwing up errors on installation. Tried copying the cd's no dice :(

I've identified the internal hardware etc but for most can't find drivers for, the few drivers I can find don't work usefully...

Anyone got any tips or potentially have copies of the recovery discs for this beast??

  • You can get a replacement CD here:

Drivers seem to be very difficult to come by for that particular product, it was probably manufactured for one of the PC world group type companies.

Have you installed XP MCE yet?

Anyway, the missing drivers are here.

After a bit of late night googling i found that very page and the recovery CD page. £35 for a recovery CD!?! Not very MSE the techguys obviously... Edit: not installed xp mce yet, just plain home edition as no install disc was provided (I'm assuming the recovery cd's hold the info and disk 2 won't read)...

Those drivers fit the board and i managed to rustle up an ethernet driver but windows is still showing this:-

The missing audio device i would have expected the drivers on Donnies link to have solved but no dice? Odd...

Having looked at this page on techguys i at least now know what hardware i need drivers for... More googling awaits i guess!

Cheers fella's any other tips? :rotfl:

How did you get over the licencing problem in installing XP Home? Have you considered that missing drivers could be to do with components in XP MCE?
  • He dropped it off with 4xrecovery disks and 1xwin xp home upgrade that included a legitimate windows xp key. So no licensing issues with installing home as I used that key.

Having looked at the recovery disks and partition I'm a bit confused as some of the files included are mce and not home. But he swears blind he never received a mce disk..

Yet that was what came installed on the system originally and it is the os the restore disks installed too...

    Still very confused!

That system was supplied with Windows XP MCE, so at least one of the missing drivers is connected with the extra function of MCE. Remote control and possibly the TV Tuner.

XP Home is a downgrade from XP MCE.

Nothing about which to be confused. If you want the extra function, you need to install XP MCE.
  • Aha! Checked the side of the box and it also has a key for MCE on the side... D'oh!

Will try installing MCE and see if that picks up these weird missing drivers...

Cheers Donnie, i feel my confusion mainly fuelled by erroneous data supplied to me by my distinctly non techie mate!!
