Best Bank Account for me (details inside...)

Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I couldn't find anywhere more appropriate.

I've finished my A Levels and am now on a Gap Year before going to Univeristy. I plan to work during my Gap Year (as opposed to back packing around third-world countries...spare me!) and at the moment have just a normal current account with Lloyds TSB. I don't qualify for a student account. However, I'm looking for a Bank account that has a high interest rate, to earn as much as I can with my [hopefully] new found salary; and to have an arrangement with overdrafts (which I very rarely enter) so I don't end up paying £30 for going 5p overdrawn (had a bad experience with Santander). A normal Debit Card that I can use day-to-day and still have these aspects.

Can anyone suggest a suitable account. Please don't suggest Santander - I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Sorry for the lack of technical terms, but I hope you know what I'm getting at! :)

    Halifax Reward current account
    - pays you £5 for every month that you pay in £1000
    - (a good trick if you don't quite make £1000 per month is to withdraw it and pay it back in, e.g. earn £900, withdraw £100 and pay it straight back in - with internet banking it's easy)
-if you do go overdrawn it'll cost you £1 per day (within an arranged overdraft) so best to keep a close eye on your account and stay above £0.
    - plus £50 for switching so a total of £110 in the first year (including the fivers)

    or

    Lloyds TSB current accounts
    - get 2.5% - 4% on the money in the account, as long as you pay in £1k
    - remember they are changing their overdraft fees later this year, so it'll be £5 for every month that you are overdrawn, in addition to interest
