England bus travel question

We live in Scotland, and my son has the OneScotland travel pass that gets him and a carer free travel on buses in Scotland. Does anyone know if this is valid in England? Managed to get a nice cheap weekend away for us, just wondering if we could use that to get around while down there?

Failing that, what's the cheapest way of using the buses... budget is very limited :/

I don't think it'll be valid in England as it appears to be a Scottish concessionary card not a UK one.
As to the cheapest way to use buses whilst in England it depends on where you are going, where you want to travel and how long you are going to be there.
  • Just general about town bussing, and out to Whitley Bay where we're staying. In Glasgow you can get all day travel for £3.75 and £1 for children. Anything similar in Newcastle? Arriva's website is either not very helpful or I'm not looking right!

Well I'm not in the Newcastle area but Arriva does provide our local services. They do a Day Saver for £3.20, a Weekly Saver for £10 and a 4 Weekly Saver for £31.50. These allow unlimited travel within the one town. You buy them from the driver on the first bus you get on. They have an information number on 0844 800 4411.
