Hi
Basically i have a contract with vodafone for £10 a month, Friday i checked my online banking and they had taken a direct debit of £35. I knew i hadent used that much extra during the month so i logged in to my vodafone online account and found another number as well as my own. Striaght away i got on the phone to voda and told them this wasent my number, I was told there had been a fraud on my account and the extra number on my account would be cancelled and i would get the money back i had paid.
I spend most of Saturday cancelling credit cards and bank cards to make sure it was only one card that had been used. I popped in the store and was given an itemised bill for the number that had appeared on my account.
Today i tried phoning the number which on friday they said had been switched off and it was ringing so i get on the phone to the call centre and they say dont worry it is definately fraud and it has been passed to the fraud team. As i am not not trusting a word the call centre is telling me i go instore to try and get to the bottom of things.
After a phonecall from the manager it turns out that in fact someone with the same name as me (totally different date of birth) got a contract and in error it was put on my account, they do not seem to know why i was being told there was a fraud on my account.
I am currently holding an itemised bill for someone elses phone with my name on it, I also spent most of Saturday running round canlcelling cards and informing banks as i was told i had been a victim of a fraud.
I am fuming. Can anyone tell me where i stand legally for fighting voda for compensation on this as the amount of time and stress ive had over this i feel i deserve it.
Thanks

Why were you cancelling your credit cards?
When from what you say they have got into your vodafone account and not your bank or cc accounts?0 -

Sorry my explanation was poor, i was told instore that someone had ported a pay as you go sim to my account, to do that they would have had to prove they were me with my bank card details as no sim is ever sent out all the do is change the sim to a paymonthly contract so i was told they must have had my bank card details to do this. As i was concerned they had more than just my bank card i cancelled all of my cards. Hope that explains it better0 -
Ah OK got you now. But will anyone admit to saying this to you?
Compensation is probably not on the cards unless the bank has charged you fees and you have suffered a loss. But if ou write a well reasoned letter you might get a decent goodwill gesture.0 -
Thanks for that, it disgusts me that they can just get away with taking money out of my account and worrying me sick i was the victim of identity theft. So legally they can take what they want out of my bank account and pass me details of who other customers have been calling? Seems very wrong to me0

I had an upgrade phone sent to me, One i had not asked for, Also received serveral sim cards which i also never ordered.
When i phoned to sort it out they seemed rather shocked and said destroy the sims and dont attempt to use them.
Wonder if they internal issues?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Seems like it's worth a month of free line rental as a goodwill gesture at least. Suggest it
