Incremental backups... .

For some reason my Windows 7 backup utility won't back up any longer. I read somewhere that someone had the same problem which was due to deleting the relevant services in ccleaner. I may have done the same so does anyone have any idea how to reinstall it...?
Secondly, I downloaded Paragon's free backup utility and while I have done an entire backup of my system to DVD I can't work out how to do incremental backups to DVDs. Does anybody have any suggestions? Many thanks!

How do you think that you deleted it using CCleaner? Through Run Cleaner or did you use the Registry Tool?0

Ahem, through tidying up the startup things... . I might not have done that and it might be another problem entirely. It comes up with an 'unable to access file' message. I just read that somebody had used ccleaner and themselves struggled with Windows 7 backups... .0 -

When you say you did an entire back up do you mean everything on your hard disk including the OS?
Nothing wrong with that, just a little time consuming I'd have thought and a large number of blank DVDs. It could be argued that only your personal stuff such as documents, pictures, internet favourites, drivers, any software (.exe files) you've downloaded and paid for actually need to be backed up.
The rest can all be restored from the recovery partition (if a laptop) or from the disks that came with your desktop. You can even make a slipstreamed copy of Win 7 that incorporates all of it's updates since it was installed on your computer. Thus, if you need to reinstall the OS you use the slipstreamed version and it'll reduce the amount of time you'll need to wait for updates to be downloaded from Microsoft as you'll have most of them already. Here's a Guide. It sounds really technical and complicated but it's not, it's just a case of following each step precisely.0 -
Thank you both. I just mean incremental backups of my documents, etc. They are copied through Dropbox onto another computer, but I would just like to run a weekly backup onto DVD as well to make sure that they're safe. I know I can do it manually; it'd just be nice to make use of Windows 7 or Paragon's tools properly!0

Perhaps you should ask your second question on Paragon's Discussion Forum.0
