Car stereo

Hey all
I appear to have lost the front bit of my car stereo
.
Is it possible (or worth it) to try to get a direct replacement or should I just get a whole new unit? The stereo is 6 years old. It is not the one that came with the car.
Are they easy to fit? There is a CD inside the bit in the car, have I lost this for good?
As you can tell I have no idea about this!!
Cheers

Probably not worth it. Most of the fronts retail at £80 - £100, the only real option is to get one second hand or another identical unit off eBay. There may still be the button on the front to pop the cd or try pressing the reset. Normally when taking the unit out disconnecting the plug and reconnecting will pop it out. Depending on the car, normally Japanese are a pain, they are easy to change (providing it was fitted correctly and not on chopped wires).0

It's unlikely that the manufacturer would supply a new front panel unless you have proof that you bought the car stereo. The whole point of removable fronts is to deter thieves from stealing car stereos. So if the manufacturers made it easy to obtain replacements it would defeat the object of the exercise, I'm afraid. Even then, it's likely to be prohibitively expensive.
I'd echo the advice of looking for an identical unit on ebay. and also, there may be a way of ejecting the cd without the front panel, a bit like the paperclip hole on many computer CD/DVD drives.0
