XBOX 360 Live connection problem.

Hi
I have a 'netgear' router on a dsl based network. The router etc are not well placed to hard wire the 360 so I was wondering if there was any way I can plug the 360 into a laptop that is already on the network.. or do I have to get a gaming bridge / wireless adapter ?

Thanks

ps - did a search first but couldn't find this particular one answered

    Hello

Not really. It is easier to buy a gaming bridge (About £20 from eBay) and replace your router with a wireless one.

If your laptop has an internet connection you could set up ICS (internet connection sharing) and plug a RJ45 crossover cable from 360 to laptop.

Yes. But that is really just a bit complicated.

I bought one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/US-Robotics-PS2-XBOX-360-Wireless-Gaming-Adapter-Bridge_W0QQitemZ330033284161QQihZ014QQcategoryZ44997QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem plugged it into my Xbox and it just worked. I have idea how, but I was impressed!

Hi - I bought the gaming adapter as per boxst suggestions above. I just cannot get this setup.
I have a netgear wireless setup on DSL.
The instructions on the adapter ask you to plug it into your PC first so that you can access a WEB User Interface to set everthing up.
I have plugged this into a spare etherent socket on the back of the router as this is the only place available.
All the instructions refer to ip addresses in the 192.168.1.2xx range .. my network is on 192.168.0.xxx range and I'm not sure I can change that.
I just cannot get the internet page up ( it just times out) to use the user interface - is the ip address causing my problem ?
    can anyone help

:o I have got passed my initial problems with the ip address with the help of someone on AV forums. Now stuck ( for hours on DNS failed ) Can anyone help... my 12 year old was really looking forward to seeing his XBOX 360working on live .

I just don't know what to put into the DNS settings..
I've tried auto - which ties in with my router,
and the value returned in an ipconfig /all command...
and just about every other value ..

usng WEP on my WGT624 router, and the USRobotics gaming bridge - surely someone else must have a similar setuo.

    Thanks ;)

EDIT - thought I'd add an update just in case someone does a search for a similar proble. I gave up in the end and just bought the MS XBOX adapter - it worked like a dream. Just wish I hadn't wasted me time and effort on the other one. By the time I pay for postage to send the other one back it will have cost just the same - not exactly moneysaving!
