DVD/CD Drive

I appear to be having difficulty getting into the Bios setup; the screen flashes so quickly that there is no time to see what I should be pressing. F10 gets to a place where I can adjust time & date, and also see info about computer, but that's it. constantly pressing del, achieves nothing.
Device Manager has the following yellow asterisk against:-
multimedia audio controller
pci modem
smbus controller
video controler (VGA compatible)
It does though show "hl-dt-st dvd+rw gca-4040n" when expanding DVD/CD-rom drive
- GoTo the control panel / hardware where you found '' hl-dt-st dvd+rw gca-4040n '' right click on it, delete it, ignore the warnings and cold boot ! what happens ?
- get drivers for your "" sm bus controller "", install them and do a ' cold boot ' - what happens now ?
Generally it looks like the MOBO driverset for your particular chipset is not installed at all. When you try stage 2 the "" sm bus controller "" or indeed the Video & Audio drivers they may not go in either. The purpose of uninstalling the '' hl-dt-st dvd+rw gca-4040 '' is to force it onto a new rack allocation in your O/S.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Hi Richie,
Cold start on DVD - no joy.
Before I go any further, I have just downloaded a batch of drivers from HP's site and see if that can solve the problem.
Thanks.0 -

Ok, M8, let us know how you get on. If your on the net try to bung SP3 on it'll kick off if the chipset drivers are missing.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
