Lifetime warranty from bike manufacturer that has ceased trading?

I recently bought a rather expensive carbon-fibre mountain bike, and one of the reasons I was happy splashing out so much (almost £4k...) was the fact that the manufacturer gave a 99-year frame guarantee. This was extremely important to me with it being a carbon bike because if they sustain any damage then they are pretty much garbage. The manufacturer appears to have been good for the warranty, as I know of someone with the same bike who cracked it and his bike was replaced with seemingly no fuss.
The manufacturer has now ceased trading, so I'm wondering how I stand with my warranty. Am I out of luck? If I am then it's a rather expensive bit of kit for me to be afraid of riding in case I break it. Would there be any recourse with the dealer I bought it from?

Thanks in advance

Did you buy it on a credit card or visa debit card?

If so a chargeback is your worst case scenario.
  • It was on a Visa Debit. How does that work then?
For info, the bike is still in excellent condition, I just wonder where I stand if I were to break it.

S75 of the consumer credit act makes credit providers jointly responsible with the retailer if something goes wrong.

Credit card companies are “providers” under the legislation as are (I think) Visa debit cards (although not other debit cards for some reason)

This means that your card company will pick up the bill should the seller be unable to do so

OP, take out accidental damage insurance.

If anything goes wrong, clearly you cannot get a remedy from the manufacturer. You cannot get a remedy from the debit card provider either in this situation.

IMO the guys who break these bikes are normally riding them outside their design limits.... You probably don't need to worry.
