Hi Folks
I'm off to the Lake District next week with my OH and my Mum. Taking her for a week away. Just wondered if any of you had any ideas of what we could do whilst we're there? We're staying near Bowness. Mum is 67. Looking at interesting sites, shopping, fishing, boating. Any good experiences you've had or companies you've used for booking trips, boats etc would be a godsend.
Thank you all in advance.
Regards

We have been to the Lake District for the past few years. I would recommend any of the boat trips that you can book along the shoreline. Theres also a fab Carvery Pub thats very cheap! There is also the Beatrix Potter museum which is very closeby. Grasmere is good for a wander round shops and theres a pretty garden centre there. What goes around... comes around...0

I can not recommend the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway enough. both really nice stations - Ravenglass more so - but its a lovely and cheap day out.0

Hi
There really isn't anywhere to shop other than the touristy places , and they can be pricey .
Will you have a car ? I love Kirkstone pass , great views from the top, and it's free0 -
There are nice cafes in Lakeland, Windermere store.
Blackwell is a great place to visit again with a nice cafe.
shopping wise for quirky head to Hawkshead or Cartmel
Ravenglass is great there are some offers flying around on leaflets if you look out for them.
Other great places to visit are Rydal Hall at Grasmere, Levens Hall Kendal
Low sizergh barn is another great cafe and you have the sizergh castle near by. or the strickland arms is nice for an evening meal
in ambleside we like zeffs, or lucys...
and my favourite is the ice cream farm near grange over sands.. you could also take in the new lakeland motor musem or holker hall..The futures bright the future is Ginger0
