    I think you are stuck with a zone 1 to 5 weekly or monthly travelcard @£30.80 / £119.30 with the student discount.
    The only way to cut this is to reduce the zones, removing Z1 saves almost £13/week but it would probably take well over an hour to get from St J wood to E&C by bus compared to 25 mins by tube. Cutting a zone at the other end by getting a bus from stanmore to kenton (Z4) would probably add 40/45 mins to the journey and only save £5.10/week. To save £13 a week by cutting zone 1 you could end up spending an extra 10 to 15 hours travelling, effectively getting less than £1 an hour for your time.
