Recently moved approx 30 miles from London.Unfortunately I am unable to receive some London FM Stations on my portable radio (even though I can receive the in my car).Would I need an external aerial???.DAB signal does not reach either??

You're probably outside the TSA (Target Service Area) if they're London stations so you shouldn't expect to be able to receive them.
An external aerial on the roof may well help but first of all try your portable radio in different parts of the house. By a window which looks towards London is likely to give you the best chance.
Other alternatives are via the Internet or satellite.0 -
You could always listen to them over the internet0

As long as you aren't on one of those stupid capped services. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
