Buying land in Scotland

Morning All,
We're a few months away from even considering buying land but, from all received wisdom on the subject, it would appear the next 12 months will present the best opportunity to get a decent sized plot in East Central Scotland. I'm hoping someone with a wee bit of experience is able to direct me as to where to even begin looking. I've tried a few google searches but there's nothing particularly comprehensive popping up and I've looked at the Scottish Government's derelict building and land survey but the next steps are vague.
Any advice appreciated. I'd be happy to offer more details on the amount of land required and such but we're at a very early (and still pretty ignorant) stage.
Cheers,
Billy

Gissa clue, how big, why (eg to keep chickens on, build a house, park 73 caravans??), budget, have you any knowledge at all of Scottish legals regarding property??
Why do you think next 12 months will present "best opportunity"??
What has derelict got to do with it?? (Or are you expecting to leave the plot derelict??looked at the Scottish Government's derelict building and land survey but the next steps are vague.0 -
Have you looked at any of the East of Scotland Estate Agency websites?
I can think of around five, maybe more, building plots offered on various agents' websites, within easy reach of Edinburgh.
Depends what you want. Some of these one-house plots, some larger.
"received wisdom", eh? Dontcha mean "perceived wisdom"??? and why does that suggest this is a good time to buy?0 -
Buy The Scotsman every Tuesday and look at the commercial property section therein.
House plots, commercial land, etc etc - almost four pages' worth....0 -
By chance I came across these 2 plots last night.
By the beach
