IMHO the 'expert' is being less than honest. If the retrieval requires low-level data recovery (which seems unlikely, as it's not due to actual physical drive failure, as far as we know), then it's going to cost £300+ rather than £100.
But if it only requires a program like recuva, then it should be a lot less than £100.
Start with recuva, as it will cost nothing!No free lunch, and no free laptop
