Caribbean Cruise - Princess Cruises

Hello all,
I need to pick your brains as it's now only 2 weeks until out honeymoon and I am getting in a bit of a flap about money! I really struggle to let my hair down where spending money is concerned.

We are going on a 10 night Caribbean Cruise...Woo hoo!:T
We scrimped and saved like a mad couple to be able to go so we really want to make the most of it.

I have heard some horror stories about how these things can rapidly add up (meals and tips etc) so I was just wanting to ask..."What's free/included?"

I know meals in certain restaurants are but I'm not sure what else.
We have also opted not to buy excursions from Princess but sort that out from locals on land as it should save us a fair bit.

I would also be really happy to hear any other top tips you might have please!

This is our first Cruise so we really have no idea what to expect.

Thanks so much.

  • Hi

Relax! You can spend as little or as much as you want. You will need to exercise control though.

When you board you will be issued with sea card pass. Whenever you buy anything on board it will be charged to this card. Then this will be charged to your credit card at the end of your cruise.

The cruise line usually send one update of your bill during your holiday to let you know how much you have spent. You will then get a bill on the final night. However, you can go to Reception and get an updated bill whenevr you feel you want to check.

You could go on the cruise and not spend a penny. The main restaurants are free, as are water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sometimes home made lemonade.

There will be speciality restaurants that will have a cover charge. These are nice but the meals in the main restaurants are top quality and you can have a 5 course meal there.

With regards to drinks. This can add up. Look out for wine packages that will save you money if you buy X amount of bottles up front. All drinks carry a service charge of 15% so don't tip on top!

The shows in the theatre and other entertainment is FREE.

Excursions via the ship are mega expensive. If possible pre book with local agents or try and do them yourselves.

You will have a great time. Pincess are very good and just keep an eye on what you are spending.

If you have anymore questions just PM me.

    Happy Cruising
