Chin up El, you'll get there in the end. But I would recommend cutting it up esp if you don't feel you can trust yourself.
I have my cc still but I got sent a new one when the old one ran out - I've not activated the new card yet, so can't actually use it. Once you get used to not using it when you want to (rather than have) then it's really easy to just forget about it.

PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -
at least you didn't get yourself back into too much debt before you realised you'd slipped off the wagon.
Is the tickets you bought for the friends ones that you will get paid for ? If so I would ask them for the money, even if you haven't got the tickets. If you'd bought tickets on my behalf I would understand that you needed the money to pay for them before you'd actually got the tickets so don't feel embarrassed aout asking.
Can the tickets for the nephew / son be put towards a birthday / christmas present? If you can then all well and good but don't buy anything else on the day as well.
If they can then in reality ,you've only bought your hubby's and yours.
But don't try and explain away the purchases if you can't do any of the above!2014 Target;

Ela - Don't worry, I had a similar "emergency" with Charlatans tickets. Mmmmm, Tim Burgess, a luxury but what a luxury................Sorry, I'll back on track...
Don't be too hard on yourself hun. Imagine how you might have been pre-lightbulb. You'd have spent on the card and then continued to do, and then only paid the minimum and you'd have dug yourself a great big hole. At least now you are aware of how you're spending, know your weak points and know that you have to address it.
How you doing by the way hun? Long time no hear, read, whatever, you know what I mean!Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

Yeah! I know, it's like we all went off at the same time!
I've managed to get to the swimming pool twice this week already and am hoping to go again tomorrow if I don't have to go to a work thing. I made a deal with the OH that for every hour of exercise I did, he would do an hour of reading up on here, sorting out his budget, finding the best card and so on! Not doing too well on dieting though and if anything my debt has increased by a couple of pounds so could do with getting back on the wagon. I had to get rid of my diary though as my boss comes on here now and he would have known it was me. Not sure how to keep motivated now though as it really helped!
Glad college is going well hun, what are you studying? Perhaps you should become an avid letter writer to complain about the public transport. You never know, you might get a freebie out of it!Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

i gave up on my diary as well i found it too depressing and was thinking if i'm finding it depressing what's everyone else thinking ..but now that i'm back tracking i'm thinking maybe i should've kept it up ...i'm studying biological sciences then hoping to go onto a degree in human biology psychology and sociology i'm taking this year to find out if i can manage work school etc and not get into more debt ..but that set me to worrying to as it seems most people obtain alot of debt whilst studying and i really really don't want to do that ..also there's alot of people with qualifications but can't get the job's they want ..me being and old fart will find it even harder ..oh life why can't it every be simple eh....did you change jobs recently ? or has your boss had his light bulb moment?0
