Key come off keyboard?????

I was cleaning my laptop earlier and one of the keys has come off. (the Alt key to be precise!!!) Can anyone tell me how I put it back on, I dont think the actual key is broken but not sure how it clips on????

place it carefully in place and push it down, if you haven't broken the clips, it should clip into place.

Well its not clicking on so maybe It has broken :-((

You can get replacement keyboards for around £25 and they're not too tricky to fit once you've worked out how to get inside the laptop. It may invalidate the warranty.

I speak from experience of looking after 100-odd laptops (ab)used by 1300 teenagers!

I wouldn't mind that QUITE so much but they manage to lose one of the keys and/or break the clips so the key won't go back on and the keyboard has to be replaced.

Also, why do they only do it with laptops which are £25 and half an hour to replace and not desktops (£5 / 5 mins)?

Thanks for the info, dont use that key much anyway so may just leave it for the time being and replace the keyboard later on......
