Debris flowing from electric shower

Hi all.
I have a triton electric shower and live in a hard water area. Over the last few months the shower head is being blocked by small particles flowing out with the water. These particles looks like limescale, mainly small whitish pieces, ocassionaly some black. I have cleaned the inlet filter but this did not make any differences.
I have determine that the particles are coming from the shower unit as the inlet filter is not blocked with these particles and i have taken the shower hose off and turned on the water in a jug and it seems to be coming from the unit. I have to clean my shower head daily from the amount of particles/debris coming out from the electric shower. I am at a point i need to change the whole unit but hoping for an easier/cheaper option first.
Has anyone seen this issue before?
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Liam

This seems a common problem in hard water areas. Advice includes:
- add a limescale inhibitor device in the water feed to the shower;
- after showering continue to run the water on cold setting to flush hot water from the heating element.0 -
Strange - that's why I logged on this forum. I have the same problem with my Mira shower. Did you sort the problem? I've started to think it's some inner component of the shower and may need to buy a new one. The debris (EXACTLY same desciption as yours) isn't coming out of the taps so can't be the water tank. Have you an update?
Edit: I've just ran 2 baths of water with the shower water and it is still chucking out loads of debris0 -
To clear the current loose stuff -
Take the shower head off and let the hose hang down. Let the shower run for several minutes both warm and cold (put a sieve under the hose if you are curious to see how much rubbish there is).0 -
I have in the past let the water run for a while to clear what i assume is the elements within the shower clogged with limescale. TBH..i only did this for 5 minutes but will try longer tonight.
Not sure if there is an easy solution to this as I am starting looking for a replacement shower. As one post has mentioned, turning to cold water at the end of the shower will help prevent a scale up.
I shall also look up this 'limescale inhibitor device' when i have the money to change my entire bathroom. For the moment i need a quick and easy fix
Shall update tomorrow morning. Hope it works and hopefully someone here will have a working solution.0 -
Update: I let the water run on the hose first with hot water and then on cold. The hot water seems to be the trouble maker as this cause most of the limescale to come out, I then switch to cold after a while. It is slightly better but not a working solution. I am starting to think that unless you can scrap all the limescale out of the element physically, theres no way to clear it effectively. Now will start to look for a replacement unit and try to minimise the impact of limescale by running the cold water to flush out any hot/warm water from the unit.
Thanks everyone..0
