Printing out your own postal label

Just some questions because I am thinking about printing out my own postal labels from ebay to save time:
1) Can you only print out first class?
2) Do you get a proof of postage, or do you have to queue anyway at the post office for that?
3) How do you stick the label to the parcel? - Do you tape it on? Glue it on? or do you need one of those clear pockets.
If any one can answer any Thankyou.

1) Can you only print out first class? Paypal only do 1st class which is why I only rarely use it.
2) Do you get a proof of postage, or do you have to queue anyway at the post office for that? You still have to queue for your proof of postage. Also if your sending tracked you still need to queue to get a tracking number entered into the system
3) How do you stick the label to the parcel? - Do you tape it on? Glue it on? or do you need one of those clear pockets. Just tape it on as long as all the info can be seen that's fine

My local PO politely ask us not to use Paypal postage labels and I tend to agree with them. If I use up their time getting a proof of postage then it is only fair I buy their stamps. Maybe it's different in a town but I would like to support my local PO as much as I can.0

Cheers thanks. I was just thinking of goods that would fit through a letterbox. But if you don't get proof of posting, it doesn't seem worth it.
I like going to my local post office too, it's the best way to get all the gossip of the village!!0 -
I have a great understanding with my local Post Office. I take in my bags of Ebay packages and just leave them. They deal with them either at a quiet moment or one of the "non-counter" staff sorts them and despatches them. Next time I go in I leave my next bag and pay for my previous one.
A simple system which saves time all around, it works for them ,me and the regular queue of folks waiting for their giros and to pay 50p on their council tax bill etc.Instant Credit means Instant Debit!

The PO actually get paid the same amount for taking a prepaid item as they do for you actually buying your postage from that particular branch. My local PO politely ask us not to use Paypal postage labels and I tend to agree with them. So it doesn't really matter if you print your own.

its always better to take the parcel to post office to get the correct weight and size checked that way you arent overcharged and most importantly if you underpaid it wont be delivered and the recipiant will have to pay extra to get his parcel and you will get bad feedback0

That's not strictly true....the PO as a whole get the same amount but the individual small sub post office earns a remuneration for each transaction it performs so they would prefer you to go to them to do your business.:)The PO actually get paid the same amount for taking a prepaid item as they do for you actually buying your postage from that particular branch.
So it doesn't really matter if you print your own.It will always be impossible to please everybody all of the time but so long as someone is happy with me somewhere at some point, my job here is done!0 -

We were told by our local PO that too much postage can slow the delivery as well. Automated systems pick out incorrect postage, whether up or down, and they need to be manually sorted. Might be PO propaganda.0 -
Oh right, well I don't use a small PO, I use a town centre one. But yes, I agree if you use a small village PO it is a good idea to pay there and keep them running.gillyjelly wrote: »That's not strictly true....the PO as a whole get the same amount but the individual small sub post office earns a remuneration for each transaction it performs so they would prefer you to go to them to do your business.:)
For big city and town branches I don't mind printing my own.

Had 2 items with insufficient postage fees, Both had printed their own stamps. Unless you know
the weight exactly and do not require tracking then do not bother.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
