Reliable solar patio lights? Want to sink them into gravel

We are planning a gravel border around the edge of the garden and would like to sink round or square lights into the gravel at ground level (not posts or lanterns) and would like them to be solar lights so we dont have to bother with wires.
Is there such a thing as reliable solar lights that work? I remember some time ago we bought some from tesco and took them back they were useless (they were the post type).
I have also seen glow in the dark gravel, has anyone got this, does it work?

I have been given 2 packs of 10 each stainless steel lights and they almost useless. Several have not worked from day one even changing the internal battery Nicd didn't help
I got a solar powered flood light which isn't bad its 60 LED's not sure its what you want but there around £65 and give off a white light thy not bad they can just about brighten up a medium sized garden and the solar panel can be optimised for south facing and come with a fairly long lead (5m) for solar panel to the floodlight

we want little round or square ones that can sit in the gravel on the ground0

Does your garden face south? Will the lights be in shade as a result of fences, trees, plants/bushes ???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Most cheaper solar lights won't give a decent amount of light, but they will just be for decoration. Just get a trench dug and wire some in as you will get what you want rather than compromising with poor solar lights
PS the artificial gravel does work, I have seen it but again you would need a lot (ie very expensive amount) for it to give a decent amount of light as such . Ones like this I assume you mean0 -
no, its not to 'light up' the area as such its to provide a decorative light source. the trouble with wiring is we are not compentent to do it, there is a patio before we get to the end of the garden where we want the lights to be and so wiring up would be difficult i think
no the garden is north facing!!
ive seen some glow in the dark crushed glass, although the pebbles look nicer0
