my son broke the passenger door

Im wondering as the car is coming up for an MOT, is it something that needs to be fixed to pass it?

it cant be opened or shut at all.

The doors

Latch securely in closed position. Front doors should open from inside and outside the vehicle. Rear doors may need to be opened to gain access to testable items.

However imagine if you had an accident and that was the only way out! Surely it is a priority to be fixed?

he always presses down the locking mechanism when he gets in out of habit.

when we stopped to exit the car, he was a bit heavy handed and he pulled the whole thing out. I tried to put it back in and twist it but didnt do much.

its 5 doors and he has been riding in the back seat like the primeminister on his way to school in the morning.

is it going to be costly to fix? its the front passenger side x plate vw golf.
