I did just that knowing that I have not modified the car which may have altered my premium and that both plates (old and replacement) were still legally assigned to me. I made the call to the insurance company as soon as they opened and the change has been noted and I have been charged £17 for the change on my policy.I think you'll be ok Take the letter from the DVLA with you and the new V5. You and your car are insured, all that is needed is a change of recorded details. Easily explained to plod with the letter to show them.0
