New York for shopping

Boyfriend and his mate want to go to NY and do some Xmas shopping any time in December for about 3 nights.
Anyone recommend cheap flights from Manchester and accommodation when there please? Or where I can look to find some?
They better bring me something nice back
Thanks x

It'd be cheaper to spend the air fare in Selfridges. You can only bring back £145 goods back before paying duties on the purchases.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

It's not just the shopping it's the fact it is shopping in NYC,I know there are restrictions to what you can bring back but how many people stick to it let alone get checked on departure?0

The duty free limit is £390 not £145Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

American Airlines are doing £356 return to New York direct from MAN during those dates. Offer finishes on 14th Sep so better be quick. Continental fly direct from there as well but their website says £439 return plus a load of taxes/surcharges.0

My wife and I are staying at the Library Hotel in November.
Excellent deal if you do the "Book Lovers PrePay Deal" it knocked almost £450 off our stay of 7 days.0 -
Netflights on saturday had return flights from manchester direct 13th dec for £727 for 2 people cant remember the airline, you can get a hotel with them as well but didn't have time to ring them for a price. Thomas Cook sell Netflights dont know if its any cheaper direct never looked.0

Since when has anyone complied with that regulation?! As long as you don't come back carrying loads of Macy's bags you'll be OK.
Given the costs and current exchange rate I wouldn't go to NY for a just a shopping trip but if you treat it as a long weekend away with a bit of shopping on the side then it can be good fun and good value.0 -
we got ours on expedia last week, although flying from london ours cost £540 each for flights and hotel for 6 days, returning christmas eve

they were by far the cheapest, and an established company too. the flights were with KLM if you wanted to see seperately? HTH0 -
Thanks guys

He looked at BA's hotel and flight offer they have at the moment, and Expedia which seems to be the best so far he thinks so once he chats to friend that's what he thinks they will go for.
Ta for the advice on paying on what he brings back. As they hope to sight see as well I don't think he will spend too much but we'll see....Looking for the sunshine after the rain

If you get a chance, Woodbury Common outlet center is cool. We spent a whole day exploring and shopping there (i bought a watch 70% cheaper than the same model in Macy's)0
