Tap problem

Got this Bristan Quest bath mixer tap....

The little knob that you pull up to divert the water from tap to shower head is so stiff that I struggle to use it. It's always been stiff since new (18 months ish maybe) but it's got gradually worse and now I need to struggle with a cloth over the knob, pulling at it for ages to get it to come up.
(I've just re-read that
not sure how else to put it though :rotfl:)
What can I do to make it easier to move?

bit of wd40? I have that exact tap and the switcher knob has never been very stiff, i.e. you can easily switch from tap to shower with wet fingers. Perhaps there is some sort of fault with it originally.0

I had a similar problem but on a different make. If you have access to flat spanners try this. Lift up and hold the button. Beneath that piece there will possibly be two flat sides to take a spanner. Unscrew (anti clock wise) and remove the diverter. Possibly a washer not seated or just swollen. If there are no flat sides then the diverter will have to be got at from the hose connection but I have not seen that. Have a go, worth a look at least and better than a life of baths. Good luck.0

Thanks.
The knob unscrews and there is a bit underneath which I can take off, will give it a go. Herman - MP for all!
