Making mattress support ply - 12mm enough ?

Getting a couple of sheets of this to go underneath my double mattress.

Question is - is 12mm enough to offer support the mattress ?

Many thanks !

I would have thought 18mm would be the better option. TYhe price differential is negligable but it is 50% thicker.

If this is to go over the slats to spread the weight out for a pocket sprung mattress, then 12mm is too thick. Thin hardboard would be far better for two reasons:
    1. You can get splinters form plywood.
    2. It needs to be thin enough so that it will flex with the slats.

I would have thought it all depends on how heavy the OP is and what additional support (if any) there is for the mattress.

That's why I said 'if it is to go on top of slats to spread the weight out with a pocket sprung mattress'.

Yes it's to go over metal slats under a pocket sprung mattress.

I'm 70kg....the mattress is only 9 months old but it's started to sag in the middle, I'm thinking this is because the slats are a certain width apart and can't fully support it. Hopefully not left this too late to remedy.

Will have a look for some hardboard, thanks both for speedy response.

    This would do the trick:

If you are lucky you may get away with it. Just keep turning the mattress, and if the springs haven't been damaged, then there is a chance they may even out again.
