Options
I did 2 years of a degree and withdrew as I hated it and was failing miserably. I am now going to start a new degree which is another 3 years. I wont receive tuition fee loan for first year or maintenance grant or bursary, just a reduced maintenance loan. I live alone and have to pay £300pm rent and £50 utilities and then there's food and travel . All this and I have to pay my own fees. I will be studying full time so wont have time for muck work. what can I do. please help!! thanks:(:(:(:(

You can still work. Why not defer this year, get a fulltime job, save some money and go back next year?

Unless you left due to extenuating circumstances such as serious illness you won't be able to get any more funding for your first year. As you must've finished your first year if you dropped out due to failing in the second year is it not possible for you to enter the second year of your new degree?

Otherwise as Lokolo said, taking a year out to save the money you need is your best chance as you don't want to have to drop out again due to financial issues.

Most students who study a full time degree work as well. If you organise your time properly it is possible to study and work without it being deterimental to your studies. Plus working means you have less time to go out spending the money.
  • if your set on going back this year you could possibly apply to your uni for hardship funds but i think you should be able to do some work at weekends most students do this to survive
