6-8-10-12 weeks or so....
Are you in a chain?
Is there a flat involved in the chain?
Is anybody divorcing in the chain?
Did anybody die in the chain?0 -
My dad reckons 2-3 months. My flat's been for sale since May and I'm a first time seller, so this is all new to me as well.
Good luck!0 -
i think the sellers have put an offer in on a place yesterday too. dont know the length of the chain yet. Someone told me on average 3 months another said 6 !??0

I've done it once in 4 weeks, but that was unusual. Usually would take 12 weeks from offer to completion, I would say. Might be longer if there are problems, enroute0

Are you asking how long from offer accepted to completion, or from exchange to completion? Very different things.
Last time I moved it took 4 months from offer accepted to exchange! Just depends on the chain and all the other variables. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Then I wouldn't worry about that until you get to exchange. Until then it can fall through at any time anyway. Neither side is under any obligation to the other. No free lunch, and no free laptop

We accepted an offer in March and offered on our purchase in April. No chain.
Completion may, if we're lucky, be end of November.
Unexpected problem with Land Registry over a boundary, combined with our vendor's solicitor moving at the pace of a very elderly snail.
This may be the longest house sale/purchase in the history of the planet, but somehow I doubt it...0 -
providing there is no chain or other complications you are probably looking at about 4 to 10 weeks.
Really there is no reason why all house sales should take longer than a few days, but the delay makes a few quid for those involved."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

But they haven't even exchanged yet! The 'traditional' gap between exchange and completion is 4 weeks (though in theory it could be one day). The vendor may not have even bought their own new property yet, so on what basis can you predict 4-10 weeks? It could be 4-6 weeks, it could be months, it could fall through next week...No free lunch, and no free laptop
