Not being funny but being poor doesn't make you bad parents but it might make life extremely difficult for a child that is already off to a bad start anyway, the process will take ages and hopefully your situation will have improved but do you really need the added pressure of another mouth to feed ?0

I have been following this thread and I can not see why one of you do not get a full time job.
If your car cleaning business is not busy during the winter months why dont just one of you find full time work while the other one keeps an eye on the business. It does seem like you expect the benefits system to help you rather than you helping yourselves

Can I just ask one thing which isnt quite clear? Are you sharing the bungalow with your mother in law or is she renting it to you?
If you are sharing it you won't be entitled to housing benefit but if she is renting it to you you will be.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

Actually I am fairly sure someone called Heddwen with a hopeless car valeting hobby / "business" was on here a year or two ago, was given similar good advice for similar reasons, and hasn't taken any of it.
It is all very well MSEers being supportive and stuff, but quite frankly, egging Heddwen on to bury herself in even more trouble isn't doing her any favours. I can see how it makes people feel good in front of what they imagine to be an appreciative audience, but please, nobody kid yourself you're helping her.
She seems determined to run a loss making car cleaning business because she wants to, determined to live in a bungalow she can't afford unless the council pays for it, and now determined to adopt a child she patently can't afford either. Five quid says if that ever goes through, she'll be back on here in a year's time, with all the current problems plus some new ones.
Heddwen: sorry to be brutal but please. Get a proper job. Get your husband to get a proper job. Arbeit macht frei - really. If you can't actually take the excellent advice you are offered here for nothing, stop asking for it.0 -

The case lapsed unfortunately and things have become worse still since so I have been unable to make a new claim.
The circumastances are not able to be discussed as relate to Mother in law however we are having to look for alternative accommodation anyway probably end up in emergency housing and then a council house one day.
Heddwen, I wouldn't have put it as harshly as westernpromise, but you need some advice from CAB at this point. If you don't see the relevance of thinking of adopting while you are about to potentially be made homeless, then - in all seriousness, please don't take offence - you might be helped by a visit to your doctor.GhostHunter wrote:With fear I have taken the bait
Without steryotyping anyone there are much younger parents who have a roof over their heads, dont care to work ever in their lives and everything paid for them, at least I am trying!
To be a poor family doeant make us bad parents!
I decline to comment on this one any more as it has hurt my already depressed feelings and I dont see its relevance.
You need help with your priority debts which are (at least) the Council Tax, you have to pay it or (ultimately) you could be imprisoned (if there was room in the prisons).
Please get help from CAB on this, it is too difficult for people to advise on a complicated situation on a forum.Torgwen..........

I would say it looks very odd that you're trying to claim HB and CT benefit on a house that you previously owned, which has now been bought by your husband's mum. On your other thread, you said it was your husband's nan who bought the house, due to her moving into a care home. According to that, the rental income was to pay the care home fees, not a mortgage. Something doesn't add up.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I can tell you one thing - you don't have a hope in hell of adopting unless you can offer a stable family environment, including proper family home and money to provide for that child. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Im not being harsh but if your business is not providing you with the means to live then you both need to get full time jobs and forget about the company or maybe just do weekend work on the side. If things are really as bad as you say they are it sound like you HAVE to get a job and you havent got much choice... In all this time you have been waiting for the council you could have both got full time job and be bringing in money to help solve your problemsFiliss0

I think the only option is to get a full time job -and one person look after the business. if not get rid and both get full time job
if that works out then you can both do the business as well. is there a reason why you would not want to do this?0 -
Sometimes it not as easy as just getting a job is it? Theres 100's of people after the same job here.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
